Leah Gipson is an Assistant Professor in the Art Therapy and Counseling Department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She is a registered and board-certified art therapist (ATR-BC), and a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) in Illinois, with a Master of Theological Studies. She provides group supervision for BIPOC art therapists to obtain their art therapy registration and clinical professional counseling licensure. Her additional counseling training includes sexual and domestic violence, HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, substance use and addiction.

MAIA WHEELER, LCPC, ATR

Maia (She/Her/Hers) is a nationally registered Art Therapist through the Art Therapy Credentialing Board, and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who received her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). She provides counseling, academic supervision to support credentialitng and licensure, as well as creative consultation, to a number of individuals, groups, as well as small businesses and nonprofits. A graduate of Spelman College, in Atlanta, GA, and highlighted for her work with individuals on the autism spectrum in the SAIC Alumni Spotlight, Maia came into her field after studying at Middlesex University, London and encountering the celebrated effectiveness of the Expressive Art Therapies. The bulk of her professional experinces include medical art thearpy, school-based art thearpy, group work and telehealth. She has also been invited to SAIC as a Lecturer through the Art Therapy and Counseling Department with focus on gradtuate student school-supervision, Introduction to Art Therapy, and Group Art Therapy. She is trained in Cogntive Behavior Therapy Techniques (CBT), along with Mindfulness Based Stress Reducation (MBSR), and SPACE Training through the Yale Child Study Center.
